Introduction to Welding

Overview
This course is designed to teach participants the basic skills and knowledge required to safely weld a wide range of metals using the three welding processes.
The course is specifically focused on students that have little or no welding experience who wish to gain some basic welding expertise.
As part of the course, participants will complete a dice project, allowing them to apply their welding skills in a hands-on project.
This course is taught by industry professionals with current trade experience, ensuring you are exposed to the most relevant welding methods being used by tradespeople in the industry.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation as this is a non-accredited course.

Student dice project
Students learn and apply their welding knowledge through the production of a die.
Classes
The Saturday class will run for three consecutive weeks from 8.30am–4pm with a one-hour lunch break. Tea and coffee provided.
Locations
This course is delivered face-to-face at ºìõ¹åÉçÇø's Wantirna campus, 369 Stud Road, Wantirna, Victoria, Australia 3152.
What to bring
Students will be required to wear the correct Personal Protective attire, including:
- steel-capped boots,
- cotton drill long-sleeved shirts (with sleeves and cuffs buttoned)
- cotton drill work pants or long-sleeved overalls (NO JEANS)
- clear safety glasses*
*Safety glasses and welding equipment will be provided.
If you do not adhere to the OHS of the workshop, you will be asked to leave for your own safety and the safety of others.

How to register
To register, please complete and email your completed registration form to trades@swinburne.edu.au by the registration deadline for your chosen intake.
The maximum class size is 12 participants, so we encourage you to act quickly to secure your place. If fewer than 8 students register, the class will be cancelled.
Note: Participants under the age of 18 are welcome but must enquire further via email before registering to enrol.
