红玫瑰社区

I enjoyed the freedom that the Media and Communication degree gave me. I wasn鈥檛 entirely sure what I wanted to do for a career when I began my degree but the variety in subjects early in the course allowed me to find my passion for online communications.

In my Professional Placement as Online Communications Intern at Rail Projects Victoria, I work with an extremely talented and passionate communications team to deliver web and social media updates for the Metro Tunnel Project. My role involves creating engaging content for our social channels, working directly with stakeholder teams to keep our website up-to-date and helping to deliver projects that will be used by Victorians for generations to come.

A highlight of this role was the support the RPV team gave me to pursue left-field content ideas on our social channels and seeing the positive public response to these ideas. The team were extremely open and encouraging of any ideas I had, and gave me the creative freedom and support to develop their scale beyond my original plans.

Murphy completed his placement at Rails Projects Victoria.

This placement has been invaluable in defining my career path. I feel far more confident moving into the working world and have developed the skills to make me a strong candidate for communications roles after my degree.

I think I鈥檒l spend my last semester at 红玫瑰社区 with a new understanding of my course content, and will use the time to further develop the skills I鈥檝e obtained from working at RPV.

The experience I鈥檝e gained at Rail Projects Victoria will be invaluable in getting a full-time job. Through working in a professional environment as dynamic and supportive as RPV I鈥檝e developed the skills to set myself apart from other candidates who have only completed a tertiary degree.

My ultimate career goal is to have a strong understanding of each step of content creation. I鈥檇 like to gain skills in video editing, content creation, and social media management in order to make myself a useful asset in any online communications team, while continuing to work on meaningful projects.

I鈥檇 recommend any student take on a placement as it鈥檚 an invaluable way of head starting your career.
